Pehredaar Piya Ki Goes Off Air From Sony TV | Cast, Crew and Audiences in Shock

The newly started TV serial, Pehredaar Piya Ki on Sony Entertainment Television has gone off the air with effect from August 29. The sudden pulling off of the TV series, Pehredaar Piya Ki has not only shocked the entire cast and crew but also the audiences. The Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) had also directed the makers of the show ‘Pehredaar Piya Ki’ and Sony Channel to change the time slot from the prime time to the late night but discrepancies with the telecast timings made the serial go off the air.

Why Pehredaar Piya Ki goes off air from Sony TV

The television series ‘Pehredar Piya Ki’ was based on the unusual concept of child marriage that received a lot of negative response since the day it kicked off on Sony television. The show was based on a weird love story of an 18 years old girl who is married to a 9 years old boy. A few of its episodes telecasted their honeymoon and the first-night scenes, which was bizarre and draw a lot of negative feedbacks from the actors of the television industry who criticised the concept and plot of the television serial, Pehredaar Piya Ki. Not only this, the share showed the ar-old boy stalking and caressing a girl who is double his age. The viewers of the show have also accused the show makers of promoting child marriages and requested for a ban.

What Sony Television has to say

Sony Television has abided by the decision of calling off their new serial Pehredaar Piya Ki from August 28, 2017. The BCCC had also directed the Sony Television to run a scroll on the show, reading ‘Pehredaar Piya Ki does not promote child marriage and the show makers had also agreed to make those changes but they could not settle on the changed show timings given by the BCCC i.e 10 pm from 8 pm. However, the channel has extended its appreciation and support to the artists, cast and crew of television series, ‘Pehredaar Piya Ki’.
