Today on June 16, the rates of petrol reduced by Re 1 and 12 paise while the rates of diesel have come down by Re 1 and 24 paise. Yes, that right! The prices of petrol and diesel will start changing every day from today onwards at early morning 6 am. The daily price change of fuel will be displayed at all petrol pumps but the consumers can also check it online on the official website of the Indian Oil, via SMS and through a mobile app.
This initiative of daily revision of petrol prices was first started in Chandigarh, Puducherry, Udaipur, Jamshedpur and Visakhapatnam as a pilot project. The successful response from the consumers in these piloting cities led to its full-fledged implementation across India from today on.
The revision of petrol and diesel prices has been initiated across India in alignment with the international crude oil prices that fluctuates on daily basis. This initiative by the Government of India is said to provide maximum benefit to the consumers who can check the revision in fuel prices daily and get their vehicles refilled on days with fewer rates. Earlier, the revision in the petrol and diesel rates were made at the interval of every 15 days but now it will be followed as a daily regime.

In order to fetch the current rates of petrol and diesel online applicable at a dealer-
- Log on the Indian Oil website
- Click on the RO Locator tool indianoil.co.in/ROLocator/ to locate the nearest petrol pump of the Indian Oil
- You can now check the rates of petrol and diesel displayed on the website.
How to check petrol and diesel rates via SMS
To check the current day prices of petrol and diesel via SMS, consumers will have to follow the below-given steps-
- Type RSP< SPACE >DEALER CODE and send it to 92249-92249
- Consumers can avail the ‘Dealer Code’ of each petrol pump in their respective petrol pump premises.
How to check petrol and diesel prices via mobile app
Anyone can check the current prices of petrol and diesel via Indian Oil’s mobile app, called ‘Fuel@IOC – IndianOil’. Consumers can download this mobile app from Google Play for Android phone users and from Apple Store for iPhone users.
