Pinjore Mango Festival 2016 is Here | Dates, Attractions & Event Schedule

One of the most talked about event of summer season in Chandigarh, Pinjore Mango Festival is back for the year 2016. Held every year at Pinjore Gardens near Kalka, this mango festival showcases thousands of varieties of mangoes and is visited by thousands of people. Apart from the exhibition about various varieties of mangoes, the festival also has a line of exciting events which are held during this 2 day international mango festival (also called as Mango Mela). Some activities include competitions for school students, cultural dance performances, a special multi-cuisine food court and a crafts bazaar.

Pinjore Mango Festival 2016 is the 26th edition of the fest. It is organized by Haryana Tourism in association with state Horticulture Department. India is the largest producer of mangoes in the world contributing about 50% of the total produce.

Mango varieties come to Pinjore for this mango festival from different areas across India including the states of Maharasthra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal, Punjab etc.

Some common mango varieties include – Langra aam, Dusheri, Chousa, Malika, Malda, Amrapali, Ratol and Ramkela. Apart from these, there are hundreds of other varieties of mangoes which are on display. Several hybrid mango varieties are also shown to the visitors. Mangoes are available for taste and if you want to buy, then some superb quality mangoes are even available for sale.
