Chandigarh Administration in a great move ordered city multiplexes to reduce down the price of food & drinks. Also with the new decision, the administration has also added to multiplexes to allow children & elderly with their foods & water bottles in the movie hall in Chandigarh. For the same administration has given 30 days of the period to the multiplexes to follow the new decision in the city.
Going with the move of Bombay High Court, Chandigarh administration has also rolled out the decision for the better movie experience to Chandigarhians. For those who, stay away from food in the multiplexes just because of it being over-priced, can now enjoy it affordable charges in the city.
Now no over-charging of Food items in Chandigarh Multiplexes
On 4 April 2018 only, Bombay HC rolled out the decision in favor of moviegoers that the visitors will be allowed to bring their own food & drinks inside the multiplexes if the vendors inside are charging the same at a high price. Looking forward to the decision of HC & over-charging of city multiplexes, Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji held a meeting & ordered multiplexes to reduce down the rates of food item & drinks in Chandigarh as well with 30 days.
Even administration has decided to make it mandatory for the children below 5 years & senior citizens to take their food & water inside the city multiplexes during movie hours. As of now, in Chandigarh movie tickets cost around Rs-150 to Rs. 250 (approx) but the cost of popcorns & cold drinks go upto Rs. 450 to 500 i.e just doubled the price of the ticket.

As of now Chandigarh has 7 multiplexes in the city with the footfall of 8000 people per day & it goes to 12000 people on the weekends. Check out the list of the same here-

On another hand of the decision, Chandigarh PVR cinema official quoted that we do not earn anything from the movie tickets, whatever we earn is from the food & drinks only. As the rent of the mall is around Rs 1 Crore & even the salaries of the employees has to be paid off.
