Leading Designer Priyanka Khosla today presented two unique collections in her inaugural show at Chandigarh Style Week this evening. Her two glittering collections were Western Couture Gowns & dresses and her brand new Indian Fusion collection called ‘Malmal Tadka.’
The highlights of both the collections of Priyanka Khosla were quirky craft motifs called ‘Innocent Garden’, which are inspired by a child’s imagination in perceiving a garden.
Priyanka’s love for art and craft in the collections were clearly seen in today’s show. The new Indian collection ‘Malmal Tadka’ is all about mixing our own culture with a lot of elements from the west but still keeping it very Indian.
Priyanka has used lot of Malmal with Tadka of other fabrics like handloom silk, khadi, linen, chanderi, cotton silk, net and a touch of velvet and brocade.
Priyanka said that her vision here is to promote the use of Indian fabrics, artisans and culture because at present the cotton farming and handloom weaving sectors in India are in crisis. “It is unfortunate that for a while cotton was overshadowed because malmal due to its sheer, delicate and lightweight qualities is often called Woven Wind and it is perfect for Indian weather. Historically, malmal was only available to Indian Royalty but in recent times we often undervalue its potential”, she said. Priyanka Khosla’s ‘Malmal Tadka’ collection has changed that and presented a modern interpretation of a vintage aesthetic.
Author of Pink or Black Tisha Khosla was the showstopper, while many leading models of International repute sashayed on the ramp these colourful collections of Priyanka Khosla. This show was a visual treat for the jam packed venue with the presence of glitterati from the tricity who enjoyed the Priyanka’s new collections & some foot tapping music.
