Punjab Board 2017 Class 10 Result | More Than 1 Lakh Students Fail in English & Maths

Punjab Board Class 10 Results, 2017 have been the worst nightmare for the students, their parents and the teachers. The results of English subject have been miserable this year which later affected the pass percentage of the students. The Punjab Board Class X Results were declared on Monday.

It was not only the English subject which affected the pass percentage of the students, Maths also ruined the results of the students. The government school teachers of these subjects are all set to be questioned about the poor performance of the students in the Punjab Board Class 10 Results.

English And Maths Ruined The Board Exam Results In Punjab

The most number of students have failed in Maths and English this year. About 1,63,536 students failed this year including 93,100 students in Maths and 70,436 students in English. The poor performance of the students was also reflected in the PSEB Class XII results as more than 77,000 students failed in English.

The education department has asked to make a list of the students who failed the Punjab Board examination and also a list of teachers who taught the respective subjects. Apart from English and Maths, students performed poorly in Science also as 69,936 students failed the subject.

Punjabi And Hindi Have The Most Number Pass Percentage 

Only Punjabi and Hindi are the two subjects which recorded more than 90% pass students. About 93.25% and 92.46% students passed Punjabi and Hindi subjects. An improvement was seen in the SST (Social Studies ) subject as 85.38% students passed the subject.

The District Education Officer of Jalandhar said that the officials are preparing a report of the pass and fail percentage of students of every school in Jalandhar.

List Of Districts In Punjab Which Recorded Below 50% Results 

Out of the 22 districts in Punjab, 11 districts have recorded the overall pass percentage to be below 50%. The 11 districts are:

  • Sangrur – 42.85%
  • SAS Nagar – 44.73%
  • Barnala – 45.89%
  • Fazilka – Below 50%
  • Mansa – Below 50%
  • Jalandhar – Below 50%
  • Sri Mukatsar Sahib – Below 50%
  • Bathinda – Below 50%
  • Patiala – Below 50%
  • Ludhiana – Below 50%
  • Moga – Below 50%
  • Fategarh Sahib – Almost 50%

Ludhiana and Patiala have recorded a lot of students less than 50%, the two districts are also on the top of the merit list students with 113 students and 57 students from Ludhiana and Patiala respectively.
