Punjab Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) is all set to enjoy a monopoly in Punjab! PRTC’s new managing director said that PRTC buses will enjoy a monopoly because of more buses on profitable routes.

- There will be a change in the behaviour of PRTC drivers.
- The conductors and also the PRTC drivers will be given uniform.
- The PRTC drivers will be given a training to maintain family like environment in the buses.
- The rules will be more strict.
How Many PRTC Buses You Will See On The Roads
There are 1,040 buses on the road out of 1,075 buses. The target is to increase the number of buses to 1,200. The new director of PRTC said that there will be an increase of about 100 buses and 150 HVAC buses this year. He said that he wanted to implement these changes during his last tenure as MD but unfortunately could not do make it happen.

Punjab’s PRTC Running In Losses
PRTC has been facing a daily loss of about Rs. 1.05 crore. The target is to cover about 3.5 lakh km on a daily basis. The new director of PRTC said that PRTC was running into losses during his previous tenure but he made efforts and eventually helped PRTC come out of the losses by making profits of Rs. 30 lakh on a daily basis.
The government ha launched 10 PRTC mini buses on the village routes. It is expected that 40 more mini buses will be launched for the village routes which would eventually break the monopoly of private buses.
PRTC Bus Service To Be Extended To Delhi Airport
This is a good news for all the frequent travellers who board their flights from Delhi airport. PRTC Bus services will soon be extended to Delhi airport. PRTC will be operating to Delhi airport from all the districts of Punjab. The fares of PRTC buses will be way cheaper for this route as compared to the fares offered by the private transporters.
Strict Norms Will Be Made
The norms will be very strict and a strict action will be taken against the offenders. Everything will be very systematic and regular checks will be undertaken to stop all the illegal activities which were happening in the past during the previous government rule. The government will be informed if any illegal activities take place.
