Punjab | Ex-Leader Booked For Blackmailing Woman, Attempts Suicide

Punjab is proving out to be a dangerous state to live in after looking at the criminal cases happening almost daily. DC Bansal, former BJP leader attempted suicide in Ludhiana by taking a poisonous substance. The incident happened on Thursday as he threatened about his suicide act a day before on Facebook.

DC Bansal’s body was found lying unconscious by his family members near the Dugri bridge of Sidhwan Canal in Ludhiana. DC Bansal was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Civil Lines, Ludhiana. The leader’s condition is said to be better now.

Former Leader Consumed Poison 

The doctors at a private hospital in Civil lines, Ludhiana said that DC Bansal had consumed poison, Bansal left his home and posted a suicide threat on his Facebook account on Wednesday.

Bansal had been booked by the Ludhiana police after a woman filed a complaint against him. The woman told the police that Bansal defamed her and her family on social media sites. She also said that she was pressurised to get in relations with him.

Bansal Defamed A Woman On Social Media Sites

Senior BJP Leaders and district president were informed about the incident. The woman said that Bansal also apologised on April 4, 2017, but on May 2, 2017, he again uploaded messages on the social media sites to defame her. A FIR was lodged when the woman met the Ludhiana police and told them that Bansal created a fake profile on social media sites to defame her.

Bansal posted a note on Facebook in which he threatened to commit suicide. He blamed the woman and her family in the suicide note.

People Mentioned In Bansal’s Suicide Post

He mentioned the woman, the in charge of Raghunath Enclave police station, Ludhiana responsible for his death. The in charge of the police station was mentioned as Bansal wrote that the in charge had taken a bribe to lodge a FIR filed by the woman. He also named some more people like ASI, Delhi Leader, Woman’s family.

The Ludhiana police said that they traced Bansal near the Dugri bridge of Sidhwan Canal in Ludhiana with the help of his cell phone location. The police are investigating the case of blackmailing and have also registered a case against section 309 (attempt to suicide) under the Indian Penal Code.
