Punjab To Be Made A Tourism Hub & It’s an Excellent Move

Punjab, the state of India’s Sikh community has a lot of tourist attractions and will soon become a tourism hub. Navjot Singh Sidhu, former Indian cricketer and the State Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister said that the government is planning to make Punjab a tourism hub.

Navjot Singh Sidhu said that there are a lot of places in Punjab which should definitely be included among the “World Heritage Sites”. He also said that the government will be approaching UNESCO after getting in touch with ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) to get the famous places in Punjab included among the “World Heritage Sites”.

Places In Punjab Might Be Included Among The World Heritage Sites

Punjab is famous for glorious places, the cultural heritage. A lot of people from around the globe visit the religious and spiritual places in Punjab. Navjot Singh Sidhu said that he truly believes that Punjab can become a tourism hub and also said that the Congress government will make sure that the state is developed which as a result will also boost the economy.

The officials have also been directed to maintain the original look of the heritage places in the state. Navjot Singh Sidhu strictly said that a strict action will be taken against anyone who is found damaging the heritage places in the state. He said that the youth of the state would be made familiar with the rich cultural heritage of Punjab through Web TV.

Amritsar – The Famous Tourist Destination In Punjab 

Amritsar is a famous tourist destination as the city has a lot of tourist attractions. The Golden Temple, one of the most famous temples in the country and also worldwide is located in Amritsar. More than 1 Lakh tourists visit The Golden Temple daily. Amritsar also has some historical and religious tourist attractions like:

  • Jallianwala Bagh
  • Wagah-Attari Border
  • Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal
  • Durgiana Mandir
  • War Memorial
  • Gobindgarh Fort

Navjot Singh Sidhu’s Faith In Amritsar

Navjot Singh Sidhu said that Amritsar has got a lot of potentials and can become the leading tourist city in Punjab. He was confident that the number of tourists can be increased if proper facilities are provided to them. He expressed some of the upcoming plans made by the government:

  • Connecting other religious places in Punjab which would result in more devotees from different parts of the world.
  • Promoting tourism through craft items, the traditional instruments, music and festivals of the state.
  • The Congress government in Punjab will soon be coming up with a cultural policy which will help the tourism sector grow.
  • Connecting historical forts, memorials in Punjab. A film city in the state will also boost the film tourism in the state.
