Reinforcing the faith in the Indian Judicial system, the CBI court has sentenced Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in each of two rape cases against him that he has been convicted for.
The demarcation that enhanced the imprisonment
The CBI court, in an important delineation, stated that the sentences will not run concurrently but will run consecutively. This demarcation makes the total punishment for the rape accused 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in jail. The earlier news of 10-years of imprisonment spread like a forest fire and brought cheers to the everyone’s face who wanted severe punishment for the rapist. The court’s decision to run the sentences consecutively has added another 10 years to the punishment making it to a total of 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in jail.
Rapist baba’s acting session in the courtroom
As soon as the special CBI judge Jagdeep Singh pronounced the sentence in the 15-year old rape case against the self-proclaimed godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, he started weeping before the court pleading that he was innocent. According to a report, the high-profile sexual assault case verdict ended with high-drama in the courtroom. The dera chief made a final attempt to showcase his acting skills that went in vain. Accused Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh may have a superhero image but the judiciary brought down the ‘bling-baba’ to the ground and made him do what he makes other do – Sit one the floor with hands folded.

It was a scene from the other side of the table. The way his devotees and followers used to enter the premises, in the same manner, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the Dera chief entered the court premises – with folded hands. The dera chief broke down into tears as soon ass the verdict was announced. The law of the land is supreme, and like any other criminal, the Dera chief too was eventually dragged out of the court when he tried to hold his chair in the courtroom to stop being escorted out of the court. It was reported that the dera chief dropped to the floor and held his chair.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the dera Sacha Sauda chief who once had the power to shuffle the governments, was reported pleading with the judge to forgive him. Like a child, he even blabbered on that he was innocent. Though the sect head, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, complained of high blood pressure and chest pain and refused to leave the makeshift he was forcefully dragged out of the court.
Finally, victims get justice
As per a report, the special CBI judge Jagdeep Singh announced 10 years of consecutive imprisonment in both the rape case and also slapped fine of Rs.15 lakh each in 2 cases of which, Rs.14 lakh each to be paid to both the rape victims who were his followers but were coerced into having sex with him.
