Range Rover Veler is soon going to hit the Indian market soon. This fourth car in the Range Rover family, the new Range Rover Velar is believed to be possibly one of the most stunning SUVs across the globe. The Range Rover Veler, was expected to make an India launch in 2018 but as per reports the Range Rover Veler will now hit the Indian market in 2017 only.

It was reported that the Range Rover Veler was originally slated to be launched in India next year but reports now confirm that the Range Rover Veler will be launched this year itself around the festive season. It was further stated that the company has already initiated bookings for the Range Rover Velar. The state of the art Range Rover Veler will get both Petrol and Diesel engines and the company is believed to officially announce the price of the Range Rover Veler on September 21. Which will be followed by the official launch of the Range Rover Veler in India.
Specifications of the Range Rover Veler
The diesel engine of the Range Rover Veler will be available in two different power specifications. While a 3-litre V6 engine will churn 296 bhp of peak power and impressive 700Nm of peak torque whereas the other engine will have a 2-litre 4-cylinder Ingenium unit that makes 177 bhp and 430 Nm of peak power. The common factor between both the engines is that both the powerful and low power engines have been mated to an eight-speed gearbox that power the comfortable all-wheel-drive.
Only for India
Besides the two diesel engines, The Range Rover Velar will have only one petrol engine option which has been specifically designed for Indian buyers. This 2-litre petrol engine also belongs to the same Ingenium family as the diesel engine. Badged P250, the petrol engine pumps out 246 bhp and 265 Nm of torque. The petrol engine, similar to the diesel engine, has been mated to an 8-speed gearbox and all-wheel-drive. This kit is standard among all the models in the Range Rover Velar.
Price of the new Range Rover Velar
The Range Rover Velar finds space between Range Rover Evoque and the larger Range Rover Sport SUV. The Range Rover Velar is believed to be priced somewhere between these two Range Rover cars and is expected to be under the Rs 1 Crore mark. The Range Rover Velar will compete against a wide range of premium SUVs in India. These include the likes of the BMWX5, Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE and the Volvo XC90 and the more niche SUV like the Porche Cayenne. The Range Rover Velar may also compete some of its own JLR family machines like Land Rover Discovery and the Jaguar F-Pace.
