The alleged rape of a 5-year-old girl in Tagore Public School in Delhi has sent shock waves across the country. The incident has been reported merely 48 hours after the gruesome murder of 7-year old Pradyuman, a student of Gurgaon-based Ryan International School. The seven-year-old was murdered for resisting sexual assault by a school bus conductor.
This is what happened?
According to the police report, the peon of Tagore Public School Vikas, allegedly took the girl inside an empty room in the afternoon after handing over lunch boxes to teachers. The report further stated that the peon lured the 5-year-old girl with a candy and took her inside the empty classroom. He sexually assaulted her inside the classroom after putting his hand on the victim’s mouth. After sexually assaulting the minor the peon also threatened her of dire consequences.
Accused arrested by the police
According to reports, the police have arrested a peon in the north Delhi rape case. The accused has been identified as Vikas. It was further stated that the peon Vikas had been working at Tagore Public School in Shahdara’s Gandhinagar area. Vikas had worked as a security guard in the school for few years before he was employed as a peon by the Tagore Public School three years ago.
On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered under IPC Section 376 and relevant sections of the POCSO Act. The Police immediately rushed to the school and gathered details about the accused as described by the victim. The Police are also trying to figure out if any other student was targeted in the past by the accused.
Counselling that led to the arrest of the accused
The whole matter was reported to the police after the 5-year-old girl complained of pain in her abdomen. The minor complained of pain in her abdomen around 3 pm and when her mother checked her, she noticed bleeding in private parts. She got worried and asked her of what happened? The minor was so terrified that she initially did not speak anything.
Parents of the minor told police that the 5-year-old girl initially refused to speak to anyone after returning home. Later, she broke down and narrated the whole story to her parents. After a brief counselling session, the student of Tagore Public School in Shahdara’s Gandhinagar area, alleged that she had been raped by a man.
Hospital report confirmed sexual assault
According to report, the victim was taken for medical examination at a hospital after a case was registered against the accused. The reports confirmed that the 5-year old was sexually assaulted. Furthermore, the doctors at the hospital also informed police that the minor girl is mentally distressed. The only clue that led to the arrest of the accused was a ‘Man wearing a cap’ as described by the victim.
