Recently, Shimla is in the headlines for rape and murder case of a minor of class X. On July 4, she was reported to be missing by her parents when she did not return home after school. The police had found her body two days later of her missing report. Her body was found naked in the forest of Haliala near her school.

They are holding protests and march all across Shimla demanding justice to the teenage victim. Many have joined a silent candle light march called by the Press Club of Shimla to stand against the inaction perceived by the Shimla police. However, the Himachal Pradesh police are making all the efforts for solving the rape and murder case of a Shimla school girl.

To solve the case of Shimla school girl rape and murder, Special Investigation Team (SIT) under Inspector-General of Police (Shimla) Zahur Zaidi has been formed. Under the pressure of public and political influence, the SIT has been directed to fast-track the probe.
