Indian telecom giant, Reliance Industries targets to sell more than 5 million Reliance Jio 4g VoLTE feature phones every week. Jio Phone will be for free but the customers will have to make an upfront payment of Rs. 1,500 (security deposit), which will be refunded after the completion of three years. The Reliance Jio 4G VoLTE feature phone sports an alphanumeric keypad, along with single microSD card slot, FM Radio and a torchlight. It features a display of 2.4-inch display that will support 22 Indian languages. This phone will be powered by Qualcomm and Spreadtrum but will not feature mobile apps including WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram.
Last year also, Reliance Industries have come up with the similar release. A few months before September last year, the company had launched beta trials for the Jio telecom network. With the launch of the Reliance Jio 4G VoLTE feature phone, the era of 2G and 3G phone is said to be finished completely from the Indian telecom market.
