The Jeep Compass has a striking resemblance to its elder sibling the Grand Cherokee. Evident with the seven-slat grille and the sleek bi-xenon headlights, the Jeep Compass has been scaled down faithfully. Similar to the Cherokee, the Jeep Compass too gets an aggressive stance. What makes the Jeep Compass look distant is its stretched side profile coupled with shark-fin D-pillar and the squared-off wheel arches.

There may an option between a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic variant. The 2WD version of the SUV will be launched initially but the 4WD option is also expected sometime later. It has not been revealed yet whether the Renault Captur will get petrol option or not.

While the diesel engine produces a 173PS/350Nm the petrol variant churns out 162PS/250Nm. The diesel comes with a 6-speed manual transmission while the petrol comes with an option between a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. The Jeep Compass gets both 4×4 and 4×2 variants the only difference is that the petrol variant gets only 4×2 drivetrain, the diesel variant comes with both the options.

And here is the verdict

The Renault Captur is expected to get an aggressive price tag against the competition in the segment. The Jeep Compass, on the other hand, has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs 15.15 lakh for the base model.

Most of the features of both the SUVs are attractive the only parameter to differentiate would be the price factor. If Renault Captur is launched with a similar price tag as that of the Jeep Compass, the competition is going to be tough indeed for the American SUV maker.

Well, the comparison is tough but the price will play an important role.
