The Span Of Retirement Increases For Haryana Doctors

The age limit for retirement now will be 65 instead of 58 for Government Doctors of Haryana. This decision was taken based on the agitation shown regarding the topic by the medical officers. This decision of changing the limits of retirement came on Wednesday.

This all started when the all the government doctors that come under Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA) decided to go on a mass leave from October 26 and thereby threatened the Govt. To tackle the situation so as not to fall short of medical officials, Government increased the limits of retirement in a meeting which was chaired by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday. It was told on September 16  by the government officials that all the demands of medical officers will be met in a month. On October 16, the team leader of the protesters met Haryana health minister Anil Vij and decided that if the demands remain unnoticed, they will resume their agitation from October 25 again.

Hence, it was decided that doctors who were working on administrative posts would retire at the age of 58, but would be able to continue to serve up to 65 years if they want to practice more in a health institution.

HCMSA president has remarked this as a good decision. The Government has also decided to invite applications from retired officials to rejoin if they wanted to. But HCMSA president is wanting the government to accept all their major demands before they can end their agitation, one of their major demand is regarding allowances on a par with central government doctors. Earlier in September many doctors and officials of medical field got their transfer order in bulk and this was also a major reason for medical officers being upset and agitating regarding the topic. Therefore, medical officers got down to strike for a two hour duration first on September 6 in order to get their demands fulfilled. After this step, Government stayed the online transfer orders and soon got a notice for strike by medical officials on September 19 & 20 followed by a mass leave on September 21 for not resolving the pending demands of doctors.
