Rock Garden at Chandigarh is a world known architect marvel that attracts more than 5000 visitors everyday. As night life in Chandigarh is booming with discs, night food street and other activities, the Administration has finally decided to extend the visiting hours for Rock Garden during the night. With that being said, the Rock Garden will soon be accessible till 10:00 PM in the night.
These late evening visiting hours will not only boost tourism but will make Rock garden a favourite spot for city residents who would wish to visit it to see the illumination.
Rock Garden will be completely illuminated for Night hours:
As the decision to extend the opening hours of Rock garden has been taken by the Chandigarh administration, whole area of the garden will be fully illuminated with LED lights. Special lights will be focused on statues and flood lights will be installed to guide the way through the rocks.
According to an official estimate, the project of lightening up the entire area of Rock garden would cost around Rs. 5 crore. In addition to the illumination, a direct exit gate has also been proposed from the swings area in phase 3. Currently visitors have to come back from the swings area to phase 2 for exit.
As for the night time, police personal will also be deployed at this tourist spot for the safety of visitors. According to Nek Chand, the creator of Rock Garden, the number of visitors coming to Rock Garden will double with the timings being extended till 10 PM.
The work on this project is expected to start in April 2015 and will be completed in 6 months. So, you’ll soon be able to visit Rock Garden during the late evening hours.

Currently the Rock Garden is open for visitors as per the following schedule:
Summer Timings: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM (1st April to 30th September).
Winter Timings: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (1st October to 31st March).
