Royal Enfield Unveils Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650

Royal Enfield has unveiled the most anticipated Interceptor 650 and Continental 650. Royal Enfield, in an effort to revive its twin heritage, has unveiled its ground-up much awaited modern twin motorcycles. The Royal Enfield unveiled its latest models – the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor INT 650. Both the Royal Enfield models were unveiled at the EICMA Motor Show in Milan.

The specially designed six-speed gearbox is augmented by its ‘slip/assist’ clutch. Besides assisting in easy riding in heavy traffic it also prevents wheel-hop while downshifting gears. This feature is also one of the first features that has been introduced for any Royal Enfield bike. The chassis of the Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 and Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 have been developed the team at Royal Enfield’s UK Technology Centre, and Harris Performance.

Engine and other specifications of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650

Both the motorcycles – Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 and Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 are powered by the first modern Royal Enfield 650 twin engine. Both the motorcycles are being produced on the new platform. The motorcycles get 648cc, 8 valve, air/oil-cooled, single overhead cam, parallel twin engine that churns out 47bhp and 52Nm.

The engines of both the Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650 have a strong low and mid-range performance. Through the rev range, it retains the Royal Enfield character of accessible torque. The Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. This transmission unit has been specially designed for the Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650.
