Samsung and Indian Institute of Technology to Merge For Opening a Digital Academy in India

Recently a MoU Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the IIT Kharagpur with Samsung India to set up the Digital Academy on Campus. With all this, now the students will have a chance to enhance their practical knowledge with the help of the Innovation lab set up by Samsung.

Samsung to Set an Innovation Lab at IIT Kharagpur

In the light of recent events and advancements, IIT Kharagpur has signed a deal with Samsung to open up an Innovation Lab on Campus for the students. This Innovation Lab hosted by Samsung will help students to get trained on the IoT that is the Internet of Things through the advanced Tizen based operating system.

Tizen system is basically the advanced system that is currently used by Samsung for its mobile phones and home appliances. The purpose of IIT behind this step is to help students acquire the industry-relevant skills and become job oriented. This was planned as a part of the company’s corporate social initiative, aiming at consolidating the gap between the knowledge and implementation skills among the students.

100 Students to be Trained under this IIT-KGP Partnership with Samsung 

As of now, it has come forth that through this partnership between IIT-KGP and Samsung, 100 students will be trained within the tenure of 3 years. With this partnership, students will gain the practical knowledge of IoT and Artificial intelligence in aid of the advanced and new technology devoted for this purpose by Samsung.

The Curriculum of The New Digital Academy by Samsung includes – 

Basics of web design on Tizen, App Testing and Debugging. This course will not only include the classroom lectures but will also include the assignments, lab room sessions for practical implementation and mini projects for enhancing the experience. This course is designed to last for the duration of 14 weeks and is designed keeping in mind the goal of providing students with hands-on experience with the Tizen software.

This Digital Academy is a step towards the enhancement of the education system in India. This step has been taken to fill in the gap between the theoretical knowledge and industrial experience. With this step, students will definitely benefit and grab hands-on experience on Tizen.
