SBI PO 2019 Exam – Dates, Eligibility, Pattern, Syllabus & Other Details

SBI PO 2019 Exam is administered by the State Bank of India to select suitable applicants for the post of PO. Selection for SBI PO is done in three steps – Preliminary, Main, Group Exercises and Interview. Applicants who clear the Preliminary exam are shortlisted for the SBI PO Main exam. Applicants clearing the Main exam then finally need to appear for the last round of recruitment i.e. Group Exercises and if the applicant is successful to clear this stage then he/she is eligible Interview.

There are a total of 2000 SBI PO vacancies for the students belonging to the different categories such as for SC – 300, ST – 150, OBC – 540, EWS – 200, GEN – 810.

SBI PO 2019 Apply Online

SBI PO 2019 Application Fees

Applicants need to pay an amount of Rs 750 (intimation charges involved) as an Administering fee for SBI PO 2019 if a candidate belongs to the following General and OBC category. The same amount is reduced down to Rs 150 (intimation charges involved) for applicants belonging to SC, ST, PWD category. Application Fee charges once paid will not be returned.

SBI PO 2019 Exam Dates

The SSC JE exam will be administered in three stages – Preliminary Exam (online), Main (online), Group Exercises and Interview. The Preliminary Exam would be conducted on 8th, 9th, 15th & 16th June 2019. The main online exam would be conducted on 20 July 2019.

Admit cards for SBI PO Preliminary Exam – 3rd week of May 2019 onwards, Result of SBI PO Preliminary Exam – 1st week of July 2019, Admit cards for SBI PO Mains Exam – 2nd week of July 2019, Result of SBI PO Mains Exam – 3rd week of August 2019, Call Letter for Group Exercises & Interview – 4th week of August 2019, Administration of Interview & Group Exercises – in the month of September 2019, Final Result Declaration – in the 2nd week of October 2019. SBI PO 2019 Exam Eligibility

Applicants who have successfully cleared their graduation in any discipline from a recognized university can fulfill the SBI PO 2019 exam eligibility criteria. Applicants who are appearing for their final year or semester exams are also eligible to apply. Though, if shortlisted for the interview round, such applicants need to display the evidence of having passed the graduation on or before 31st August 2019.

Applicants having qualification of (CA) Chartered Accountant are also suitable to apply. Moreover, applicants possessing a combined dual degree (IDD) certificate must warrant that the date of passing the IDD is or on before 31st August 2019.

SBI PO 2019 Exam Age Criteria

Candidates having age between 21 – 30 years are eligible to fulfill the age criteria of SBI PO 2019. This means that applicants must have been born not later than April 1, 1997, and not earlier than April 2, 1988, in order to meet the eligibility criteria.

Age relaxation of some years is given to the reserved category candidates such as for SC and ST 5 years age relaxation is given, for the OBC category 3 years of age relaxation is given, for PWD (SC and ST) candidates 15 Years of age relaxation is given, for PWD (OBC) and PWD (Gen) 13 Years and 10 Years of age relaxation is given.

The official SBI website also notifies the OBC (Non-creamy layer) and OBC (Creamy layer) candidates that vacancies reserved will only be available to candidates belonging to non-creamy layer and creamy layer candidates should indicate their category as General.

SBI PO Number of Chances

Candidates belonging to the General category can appear maximum for the 4 times and for General (PWD) a candidate can appear maximum for the 7 times. For OBC and OBC (PWD), there are 7 chances given to the candidate to appear in the SBI PO Exam. Also, for the category SC/SC(PWD) and ST/ST(PWD) there are no chance restrictions. Such candidates can appear as many times as they can.

It should be notified that the applicants who have already appeared for the SBI PO exam for a maximum number of times are not suitable to apply. The number of chances will be counted from the examination held on 18th April  2010. Also, the candidates who are appearing or have appeared in the Preliminary Examination will not be counted as a chance.

SBI PO 2019 Exam Process

Step 1: Fill the SBI PO Application Form

For SBI PO 2019 registrations, applicants initially need to fill as well as submit the application form in online mode on the official website of the bank. Consequently, applicants also need to pay SBI PO 2019 application fee in online mode through any of the online payment methods.

Step 2: Download SBI PO Admit Card/ Call Letter

Applicants can download SBI PO 2019 admit card (also known as call letter) from the authentic website of the bank. It may be remarked that no hard copy of the call letter will be sent by mail or post.

Step 3: Appear for SBI PO Preliminary Exam

Next, applicants need to appear for the Preliminary exam at the allotted exam centre. The preliminary exam will be of one-hour duration and applicants need to answer questions related to subjects such as Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and English Language.

Step 4: Appear for SBI PO Main Exam

Applicants qualifying the Preliminary exam then need to appear for SBI PO 2019 Main exam at the allotted exam centre. The main exam contains both objective and descriptive questions that applicants need to complete in a total duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Step 5: Appear for SBI PO Group Exercises & Interview

Candidates passing the Main exam then need to appear for the final phase of the selection process – Group Exercises & Interview.

Step 6: Check Final SBI PO Result

Candidates clearing the final phase of Group Exercises and Interview will then be suitable for recruitment in SBI as a PO.

SBI PO 2019 Exam Pattern

As previously discussed that the State Bank of India will administer the SBI PO 2019 Exam in three phases. To score well in three levels of examination, it is important for a candidate to be familiarized with the exam pattern of both prelims and mains examination along with the syllabus of the same.

Phase I – SBI PO Preliminary Exam Pattern

SB PO 2019 Preliminary exam pattern is such that the paper will contain objective type questions of 100 marks that candidates need to complete in a one-hour duration. Question-related to the subjects such as the English Language – a total number of 30 questions will be asked. Quantitative Aptitude – 35 questions will be asked and 35 questions from the Reasoning Ability.

Phase II – SBI PO Main Exam Pattern

SBI PO 2019 Main exam pattern is such that the paper will contain both objective and subjective questions of total 250 marks. The test will be conducted in online mode and applicants need to complete the paper in a total of 3.5 hours duration. Question from the subjects such as General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness – 40 questions of 40 marks, Reasoning & Computer Aptitude – 45 questions of 60 marks, Data Analysis & Interpretation – 35 questions carrying 60 marks, English Language – 35 questions carrying 40 marks.

For the Subjective/ Descriptive Test, English Language (Letter Writing & Essay) – 2 questions carrying 50 marks.

The official SBI website has also informed that a descriptive paper of only those applicants will be assessed who have scored minimum marks required to qualify the objective test and are placed appropriately high as per total marks in objective test.

Phase III will be Group Exercises & Interview

Phase III of the SBI PO 2019 exam is administered in two parts. Group exercises carrying 20 marks and an interview carrying 30 marks.

It may also be remarked that the ultimate SBI PO merit list will be made on the basis of marks obtained by applicants in the Main exam (Phase II) as well as the third Phase of the exam. Marks obtained in the Preliminary exam (Phase I) will not be added for the final selection of the candidates. Also, applicants need to qualify both Phase II and III exams distinctly.

Weightage of marks given to Phase II and III exams is Phase II (Main) 75 marks and Phase III 25 marks which result in a total of 100 marks.

For Wrong Answers:

For any wrong answer, there will be a penalty of 0.25 marks for both the exams. If a candidate does not attempt the question and leaves the question black there will be no penalty for that.

SBI PO Syllabus 2019

The SBI PO outline is not separate from any other Bank Examination. There are three main sections on which a candidate needs full control to climb high in the Preliminary round of SBI PO Exam. They are English Language, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. These three general subjects are further partitioned into various subheadings. A candidate must look into the preceding year’s papers to know the weightage of the sub-topics in each division.

SBI PO Preliminary Exam syllabus: The preliminary examination of the SBI PO exam 2019 comprises of these above-mentioned subjects. The complete detail of heading and sub-heading of the sections asked in Preliminary Exam of SBI PO 2019 exam are in Reasoning section topics to be asked are – Data Sufficiency, numeric Series, Ranking, Direction, Alphabet Test, Inferential Thinking, Coded Inequalities, Coding-Decoding, Input-Output, Blood Relations, Tabulation, Puzzle, Seating Arrangement.

For Quantitative Ability topics to be covered are – Work and time, profit and loss, simplifications, mixtures and alligations, Simple and compound interest, distance and time, Ratio and proportion, Percentage, Permutation, Combination & Probability, Sequence & Series, and number systems.

For English language topics to be covered are – Para jumbles, cloze test, reading comprehension, paragraph completion, Miscellaneous, fill in the blanks, Multiple Meaning or Error Spotting.

SBI PO Mains syllabus: The Mains Examination of SBI PO exam 2019 includes 4 sections: General or Economy or Banking Awareness,  Data Analysis and the rest of the sections similar to the phase-I which includes topics Bar Grap, Pie chart, Line Graph, tabular graph, Permutation and Combination, Data Sufficiency, Probability, Let it Case DI, Radar Graph Caselet and Missing Case DI.

For English Language topics are Grammar, Vocabulary, Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension,  Para jumbles, cloze test, Error Spotting, fill in the blanks, Sentence Improvement, Word Association.

For General or Economy or Banking, Awareness topics are Current affairs, general knowledge, and awareness regarding financial, static and banking. For Reasoning topics are Input-Output, Blood Relations, Tabulation, Puzzle, Seating Arrangement,  Data Sufficiency, Alphanumeric Series, Logical Reasoning, Ranking, Direction, Alphabet Test, Coded Inequalities, Coding-Decoding, Analytical and Decision Making, Critical Reasoning, Course of Action, Code Inequalities.

For Computer Aptitude topics are Computer hardware, computer software, Microsoft office, Computer Abbreviation. keyboard shortcuts, memory, Internet, Computer Fundamentals or Terminologies, operating system, networking.

Aside from the preliminary exam and the mains exam, an interview process is also administered for applicants who have qualified the first two phases of the SBI PO 2019 exam. The final merit list is made on the basis of marks obtained by a candidate in his mains exam and his interview process.

State Bank of India will be issuing SBI PO Prelims Admit Card 2019 after the Registration for SBI PO 2019 Exam. Applicants will be able to download SBI PO Prelims Call Letter from the official website of SBI which will be initiated as soon as SBI releases the Admit Card.

SBI PO Mains Admit Card 2019

State Bank of India will be issuing SBI PO Mains Admit Cards on their website. It is compulsory for all applicants to clear SBI PO Prelims Exam in order to be eligible for the Mains Exam. Remember, it is necessary for candidates to clear the preliminary round to get Mains Admit Card issued.

Candidates are required to download SBI PO 2019 Call letter for the prelims exam from the official website of the exam.

To login on the official website of SBI PO, candidates are required to have: Date of Birth/Password, Registration Number/Roll Number of the candidate.

Applicants are required to read the guidelines provided on the official website of SBI before downloading the admit card concerning any aspect of the examination. SBI PO Cut Off 2019

SBI PO Cut Off 2019 will be announced once the Result for the equivalent has been announced by the State Bank of India. Minimum Marks to be secured to be shortlisted for Mains exam (Objective + Descriptive Test): SC – 77.13, ST – 75.01, OBC – 86.42, GEN – 93.10, and for LD, VI, and HI the cutoff is 75.03, 88.91 and 75.16 respectively.

SBI PO Exam – Do’s and Dont’s

Do’s

Applicants should note down the roll number, date, and time written on the admit card. Also, he/she should be present at the examination hall as per the time is given in the call letter. Those who would be arriving late in the examination hall will not be permitted to enter the hall.

Candidates should affix firmly a copy of their recent passport size photograph in the space provided for it in the previous admit card. Candidates should follow the instructions given by test managers and the invigilators at all the stages of the examination.

Dont’s

It is necessary to carry the admit card of SBI PO to the exam centre on the day of examination. Candidates will not be permitted to appear for the examination if they come without the admit card, photo identity proof in original and a photocopy and affixed photograph in the call letter.

No calculator, watch, cell phones, books, slide rulers, notebooks will be permitted in the examination room.

Copying, misconduct and unfair practices will not be entertained in the examination hall. If a candidate has been found guilty will be disqualified from the selection process of SBI PO.

Candidates should keep their mobile phones, bags and other belongings at the entry gate. Applicants will be expected to confirm in the place given for the candidate’s signature on the call letter in the presence of the invigilator in the examination hall.

The invigilator will take candidates thumb impression on the admit card while collecting the same.
