IIT JEE Counselling of 2017 which was suspended by the Supreme Court on Friday has been resumed. Bringing a sigh of relief to all the aspirants of IITs, NITs, IIITs and other engineering colleges of repute for counselling and admissions in 2017, the Supreme Court has finally called off the ‘Stay order’ levied on them. Candidates who cracked the IIT JEE (Advanced) examination 2017 this year to fetch admission into the renowned technical institutions of the nation, Indian Institute of Technology followed by National Institute of Technology followed by other government aided technical institutions had a shock of their lives when SC had put a hold on the IIT Counselling and admissions of 2017.
About ‘Stay Order’ on IIT JEE Counselling & Admissions 2017
- Supreme Court, the apex court in India had issued orders to temporarily suspend the IIT JEE Counselling and admission process for the year 2017
- Decision due to the petitions filed by some aspirants against IIT-Madras’ decision of granting all the students some 18 odd grace marks
- The bonus marks were awarded to the all the students who had attempted the IIT JEE (Advanced) 2017 examination this year which had printing errors in the question papers
- Students who had filed petition against the aforementioned decision taken by IIT-M felt cheated as the rankings as computed after awarding grace marks had tremendously changed by giving out additional marks to those who did not even attempt the questions, which sounded unfair.
‘Stay Order’ from IIT JEE Counselling 2017 Lifted by SC
SC had momentarily kept the IIT JEE Counselling on hold to catch hold of the root cause of the issue. While the counselling was suspended, some 30,000 odd students had already confirmed their seats allotted to them in the IIT counselling 2017 that was going on. If the grace marks decision had to be reverted, it would have been unfair to the kids who had already accepted the admission into their favourite IITs this year.
SC on Monday, has now stated that the stay order on the counselling has been lifted and now IITs can resume their admission process for 2017 the way it is done every year. Meanwhile, the apex court has also issued warning to the IITs to avoid printing mistakes and errors which prove to be blunders for careers of many aspirants from now on.
So, those who had grabbed admissions into IITs and other technical institutions like NITs, GFTs, IIITs etc. via the IIT JEE Counselling in 2017 can take a deep breath and calm down their agonies for the seats still belong to them!
