Chandigarh’s SD College Becomes 3rd College in India to Get A+ Grade by NAAC.

A proud moment for SD College, Sector 32, Chandigarh students and staff members. SD College has become the first college in the region with an accreditation of A+ grade in the third cycle of institutional assessment by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). SD College Chandigarh is also among one of the three colleges in the country that have been graded A+ grades in the academic category.

From Grade “A” to “A+”

The NAAC team visited SD College Chandigarh on 30th, 31st January and evaluated the college under the new grading system. NAAC standing committee’s meeting was held on 22nd February where they announced the new grade for SD College Chandigarh taking them from Grade “A” to “A+”. Principal Dr. Bhushan expressed his gratitude saying “There is a 37 points rise in the scores announced by NAAC team this year. “This won’t have been possible without the consistent efforts of the dedicated, qualified and learned faculty of SD College Chandigarh who are committed to academics, research, and student welfare,” he added.

SD College has become a paper-free campus in the last four years. Also, SD College Chandigarh has one of the finest ICT-enabled infrastructures for teaching as well as for learning. Dr. Bhushan believes that SD College Chandigarh is all set to become an autonomous college after taking all the stakeholders into confidence.

New Courses and Research Centres at SD College Chandigarh

Dr. Bhushan said that three New Research Centers would be introduced at SD College, Sector 32, Chandigarh in the field of Commerce, Physics, and Economics. He also discussed plans to introduce new Post-Graduate Courses in the field of Journalism which would commence from next year.

The NAAC team also suggested SD College Chandigarh to start working towards an autonomous status, introduce a credit-based choice system. NAAC also asked SD College to introduce new post-graduate courses, come up with more innovative courses in the coming five years of the fourth phase.
