More Snow Expected at Shimla This Weekend | People Advised to Stay Away

Shimla: The capital city of Himachal Pradesh is all set to experience fresh snowfall by the weekend and people are advised to stay away. Last Monday only Shimla got covered with fresh snow and plain areas experienced heavy rain. From then till now, parts of Himachal has been experiencing snowfall and the temperature has been falling continuously.

Along with heavy snowfall, avalanche warning has also been issued in 5 districts including Shimla as well. Even people are advised to stay from these 5 districts and avalanche prone areas in Himachal Pradesh. Check out the details regarding Shimla snowfall and weather update of Himachal below.

More Snowfall Expected in Shimla and all over Himachal this weekend

Shimla snowfall breaks the record of 15 years in just 1 day last Monday only. As of now, Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of -1 degree Celsius on Monday and even recorded lil snowfall. Along with Shimla, Kufri and Mashobra also recorded moderate snowfall. MeT department has predicted more snow in the region in the next 48 hours.

Other than the capital, tourist place Manali also experienced fresh snow and the minimum temperature of the hill station was -5.3 degree Celcius. Whereas Solan, Bhuntar and Chamba have the minimum temperature of -5.8, -1.4 and 0.4-degree Celsius respectively. Although MeT has announced the Keylong as the coldest place in Himachal with the lowest temperature of -17 degree Celcius. According to weather reports, higher regions like- Shimla, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Kangra, Chamba, Kinnaur, Sirmaur and Mandi districts expect heavy snowfall from Wednesday.

Avalanche Warning issued and People are advised to stay away

According to the MeT department, this weather change has been experienced due to a western disturbance. Although it has been expected to be more powerful in between 29 to 31 January 2019 in the Himalayas and nearby plains. Also, the advisory has advised people to stay away from the avalanche-prone slopes that are still loaded with snow.

Also out of the total 413 blocked roads, 110 were cleared till Monday. Rest roads are expected to be opened soon by the PWD team. So, tourists heading towards Shimla or parts of Himachal this weekend may have to change their plans due to its bad weather.
