And the trailer of the movie has proven that Shraddha and Arjun plays a perfect pair in the film. Shraddha Kapoor, who has been an amazing actor turned singer will play the character of Riya Somani. On the other hand, Arjun Kapoor will play the role of Madhav Jha in ‘Half Girlfriend’. The story of the movie is based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘Half Girlfriend’, where a passionate student falls in love with a rich girl but she describes herself as his half girlfriend. The bubbly Shraddha Kapoor will be playing the role of a Delhi girl named as Riya Somani in the film ‘Half Girlfriend’. Rich, Stylish, Upfront and Bold yet emotional Riya Somani (Shraddha Kapoor) who enters the college on the very first day and make boys fall for her.
Slowly slowly, she becomes a close friend with a guy in college Madhav Jha (Arjun Kapoor). And the closeness turns into love for Arjun but Shraddha remains as his good friend and tells him that she can be her half girlfriend instead of being a girlfriend.

After the success of Chetan Bhagat’s novel based movie 2 States and 3 Idiots, Half Girlfriend will hit theatres on 19th may 2017. The trailer of the movie opens with the scene where Patna boy (Arjun Kapoor) struggles with his English while fighting for the admission interview of St.Stephens College, Delhi. After clearing the interview he falls in love with a Delhi girl named Riya (Shraddha Kapoor). As time passes they get closure to each other, after which Madhav confesses his love for her, but she made it complicated and answered that I can’t be your girlfriend, rather I will be your half Girlfriend. But Shraddha and Arjun separated due to some misunderstanding between them. After which once again Arjun realises his love for Shradhha and began his search for his half girlfriend in cities like Patna, Delhi and New York.
