SSC CGL 2017 Tier-I exam result which was declared this year on October 31, 2017 has revealed cut-off marks and other details via an official SSC notification put up online by the Staff Selection Commission. The comparison of this years’ SSC CGL 2017 Tier-I Examination result with that of last years’ SSC CGL 2016 exam result has revealed a drop in the cut-off marks in the preliminary test. The aspirants of the SSC CGL 2017 exam were expecting higher cut-off marks this year due to variable intensity of questions asked in the SSC CGL 2017 Tier-I exam while the exam analysis carried out by the experts online revealed that the cut-off score might drop in SSC CGL 2017 Tier-I exam this year.

Seems like the expert analysis won the battle marginally though as the SSC CGL 2017 Tier-I exam cut-off marks have shown a dip as compared to the last year. The cut-off marks of the SSC CGL 2016 Tier-I exam last year at a preliminary level revealed data that candidates who secured 137.5 marks last year in served as the qualifying marks in the SSC CGLE 2016 exam. While the official SSC notification released declaring the SSC CGL 2017 Tier-I exam result revealed that the cut-off score for this years’ SSC CGLE Prelims test 2017 is 131 marks.

A drop of 6 marks as the cut-off marks from SSC CGLE 2016 to SSC CGLE 2017 prelims exam is an observed trend based on official records and data revealed by the Staff Selection Commission in an official notification on its website at ssc.nic.in online. The declination observed in the SSC CGL 2017 Tier-I exam result cut-off marks shows a dip of almost by 4.38% as compared to that of the last years’ marks.

The Combined Graduate Level Examination is an annual event for the Staff Selection Commission i.e. SSC as a conducting authority of various recruitment exams held annually. SSC CGLE 2017 exam is held at various levels out of which Tier-I serving as a preliminary test to screen in or shortlist selected candidates qualifying for the Tier-II exam in November 2017.  The drop in the percentage of the SSC CGLE 2017 Tier-1 cut off marks surely reveal that the exam held this year had variable intensity of questions asked in the exam. Since, the SSC CGL 2017 Tier-I exam was conducted in the month of August this year from August 5, 2017 till August 24, 2017 that too in multiple shifts in one day was bound to have questions in various sections of the SSC CGLE 2017 of different difficulty level.

This could have either be ensured to have parity either in the evaluation system by normalising the scores or marks of candidates obtained in the SSC CGL 2017 exam result or by setting the question paper of the same difficulty level throughout which was a cumbersome task. Therefore, as a repercussion of the same, the SSC CGL 2017 cut-off marks this year showed a decline in them than that of last years’.

Nonetheless, more than 1.5 lac candidates have now qualified for the SSC CGL 2017 Tier-II exam scheduled in November, and we wish them all the best for the same.
