Organized by Haryana Tourism near Delhi, in district Faridabad of Haryana, Surajkund Mela has become an annual event which is held in the month of February. This 15 day event witnesses huge crowds amounting to lakhs of visitors.
People come to see Surajkund Crafts Mela from all across India. Not just this, the mela also attracts a large number of international tourists from various countries. Surajkund Mela 2016 is said to receive a massive footfall, even more than previous years. Last year, 1.3 million visitors had come at Surajkund to see the International Crafts Mela.

Surajkund Crafts Mela 2016: Theme State
Every year an Indian state is selected as the theme state for Surajkund Mela. For year 2016, the theme state for Surajkund International Crafts Mela is Telangana.
Being a new state, Telangana will have this opportunity to showcase its culture and handicrafts on the national level. The Surajkund Mela 2016 is the 30th International Crafts Mela and Telangana has been made a theme state for the first time.

There is an entry ticket to visit Surajkund International Crafts Mela.
The price of the ticket for 2016 Mela is Rs. 80 for weekdays and Rs. 120 for Saturday & Sunday.
50% discount is being offered to students on showing valid ID card as well as to differently disabled & senior citizens.
Tickets can be purchased online from the official Haryana Tourism website. – http://haryanatourism.gov.in/ Apart from online tickets, entry ticket for Surajkund Mela 2016 can also be purchased from Metro Stations.

It was in year 1981, that the Surajkund Mela was organized for the first time and since then it is being organized every year. Apart from Haryana Tourism, Ministries of Textiles, Tourism, Culture & External Affairs also contribute in the fair.
In this 15 day long event, skilled artists from different states of India showcase handicrafts, craft items, textiles & tradition in a rural setting. Along with handicrafts, Surajkund crafts mela also showcases paintings, textiles, wood stock, ivory work, pottery, terracotta, stonework, lac work, cane, grass work and more. Visitors to Surajkund crafts mela can buy these items from craftsmen. Eatable stalls are yet another attraction where people enjoy food of various states.
