Tata H5X has been one of the hottest cars unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018 and might land on the Indian roads pretty soon. The SUV which is built closely with Land Rover uses the same LS550 platform found on the Discovery Sport. One look at the new H5X and you will easily confuse the Tata SUV with a Land Rover product. The car shown at the Auto Expo was larger in terms of dimensions than the Creta and the Compass and looked comparable to a premium 5-seater SUV like the Honda CR-V. However, industry insiders believe that there will be two versions of the Tata H5X – a five seater Creta rival and a larger seven seater that might take on something as huge as the Fortuner.
The 2.0-Litre Diesel Will Be Retuned For The Tata H5X
The Tata H5X SUV is just in the concept stage as of now but car enthusiasts are hoping a lot of design elements to make it to the production model, like Tata did with the compact SUV Nexon. This is the first product jointly developed with Land Rover and the influence of the latter clearly shows in the concept. The highlight remained the front and rear LED light cluster of the Tata H5X SUV which are integrated in the grille in the most futuristic way possible.
There were massive 22-inch wheels on the concept but we doubt if they will make it to the final production variant of the Tata H5X SUV. The bumper is beefier than ever and the black cladding runs throughout the body. Our favourite part of the design was the side mirrors which integrate the turn indicators as well. On the inside are huge touchscreens which make the car look like it came straight out of a movie like Blade Runner 2049.
The Tata H5X SUV will come in two forms – one is a 5-seater variant challenging the likes of Renault Captur, Hyundai Creta, and the Jeep Compass and the other 7-seater which will take on the Toyota and Ford flagship SUVs. The 5-seater SUV will get the Fiat sourced 2.0-Litre diesel engine from the Compass which will produce somewhere around 140BHP and the 7-seater Tata H5X will get the same engine but tuned to make 170BHP of peak power.
Tata H5X Price India and Launch Date
The Tata H5X will be launched sometime later next year . The SUV will go up against the likes of Hyundai Creta and the mighty Jeep Compass when launched in the Indian car market. Tata H5X price in India might be as low as 9 Lakh Rupees which will put it in a strong position when compared to its key rivals. However, this is just something we are speculating as of now as there were reports of the car being positioned between the Tata Nexon and the Tata Hexa. The details of the 7-seater variant are scarce as of now but a few media houses speculate it to be a key rival to the likes of Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour.
