Tata New SUV Q501 To Carry Land Rover Features | Launch in India Soon, Check Details

Tata Motors is all set to launch its SUV Q501 next year. Tata’s SUV Q501 is believed to be based on Land Rover Discovery Sport. As per a report, Tata’s SUV Q501 is expected to be Launched in India in 2018 and it is expected to be powered by FIAT’s 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine.

Tata’s Q501 SUV to be launched in India

Home-grown carmaker Tata Motors, is expected to launch its upcoming SUV Q501 in the coming year after the unveiling of the Tata Q501 at the Auto expo. Speculations are, that the all-new premium SUV – Tata Q501 is going to be a 7-seater SUV and will be available in India by end of next year.

According to company official, the new SUV by Tata has been codenamed as Tata Q501 and is slated to be launched in late 2018. The Tata Q501 will be based on the last generation Land Rover Freelander 2 platform. Currently, the SUV is being tested in India under the Land Rover Discovery Sport body.

Another Tata SUV on the cards

According to reports, Tata Motors is also developing another SUV similar to the Tata Q501 and has been codenamed as Tata Q502. This SUV – Tata Q502 will be a 5-seater SUV and will carry some of the features of the Tata Q501. The Tata Q502 is going to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Ford Ecosport and even Mahindra TUV 300. The 5-seater SUV Tata Q502 is expected to be launched after the launch of Q501.

Land Rover to share technology and components

According to reports, Tata Q501 has been spied testing in India. Furthermore, it has been reported that the upcoming SUV by Tata – Q501 will be developed by Tata Motors under the aegis of Land Rover. Land Rover will be sharing the technology and components of the company to develop the Tata Q501.

Rumors are, Tata – Q501 will be based on the Discovery Sport platform. The Tata – Q501 is also expected to be powered by a FIAT engine. As per reports, a 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine will power the Tata SUV – Q501.

The test mule of the Tata SUV – Q501 appears to be in the early stages of development. Currently, Tata Motors is testing the engine as well as the mechanical bits of the Tata- Q501. The new SUV from Tata is expected to look somewhat like the Land Rover Discovery Sport. The Tata Q501 will fill in the gap between the entry level Land Rover SUV and the top-end Hexa. The Tata Q501 will compete directly against the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Trailblazer and Hyundai Santa Fe among other SUVs in the segment.

The Tata Q501 will carry a powerful engine

The Tata Q501 will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder MultiJet diesel engine. The engine of the Tata Q501 will churn out 168 BHP of maximum power and 360 Nm of peak torque. This MultiJet diesel engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual engine. Besides the manual option, the Tata Q501 will also come with automatic transmission. The Tata Q501 will get 4×2 as well as 4×4 drive-train options.

Both the SUVs – Tata Q501 and the Tata Q502 will be premium offerings from Tata Motors. Both the new SUVs will be positioned above the Tata Hexa and are expected to be launched with a price tag of Rs 20 Lakh and 26 Lakh.
