People thronged sector 19 to celebrate Christmas at the city’s most famous church in Chandigarh – Christ The King Cathedral. The church is all decked up for the Christmas eve and the colourful stalls outside the church have made it even more lively. Christians residing in Chandigarh came to the church at night and spent a good time with their families. As it is said that Jesus Christ was born at midnight so a Midnight Mass was celebrated at sector 19 Church to mark Jesus Christ’s birthday.
Traffic Jams in Sector 19 Market
People were seen in a joyous mood at the church while Chandigarh traffic personal who were on duty in Sector 19 had a tough time managing the traffic. People were not allowed to park their cars on the main road and the parking in the market area was also full. Traffic jams were witnessed on the main road outside the church but the police was able to manage it well.
Stalls Outside Sector 19 Church
The stalls outside the Church did a good business by selling Santa Claus attire, caps, masks etc. Decoration material, Christmas Stars and Christmas trees were in great demand among Chandigarh residents. These stalls were set up around 7 days before the main Christmas night.
Visit Sector 19 church on Christmas
Not just Christians but people belonging to different religions come to visit the sector 19 church in Chandigarh on the eve of Christmas. The best time to visit the church is during the evening hours when you can see the lightning. Youngsters were seen getting themselves clicked at the church premises. However, photography is not allowed inside the church, but you can always get a selfie with the church in the background from outside. Santa Claus is present inside the church who distributes sweets to people.
