The list of top 10 cars/ SUVs sold in August 2017 in India is out. Maruti Suzuki captures most of the slots in the list of top 10 selling cars/ SUVs in India.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been ranked as the top-selling passenger vehicle in the month of August that has overtaken company’s own compact family car Alto. Maruti Suzuki has successfully captured top 6 positions in the top-selling passenger vehicle list in the month of August. While Maruti Suzuki has overall 7 cars in the top 10 selling passenger vehicle in the month of August, Hyundai has bagged the remaining three slots in the top 10 selling passenger vehicle in India in the month of August 2017.
Sales stats of the market
The market saw a little downfall after the GST (Goods and Service Tax) rollout but as per the current stats, the domestic sales of passenger cars, as well as SUVs, has seen a growth of over 7 per cent as compared to the first quarter of last year.
According to the report, Two-Wheeler sales reported a significant growth which was just a little short of the double-digit growth. As per the available stats, August 2017 saw the passenger vehicles industry selling close to 3 lakh units. The sale unit is almost 12 per cent more than the sale figures registered last year till August 2016. Last year the passenger vehicles industry registered a sale figure of 258,737.
These are the Top-10 Cars /SUVs Sold In India
Some of the new models that were launched by different companies did the trick for car makers in India. Maruti Suzuki Dzire that was launched in the Indian market in the month of May became the most sold car in the list of top 10 cars/ SUVs sold in August 2017 in India within three months. Maruti Suzuki Dzire ranked up to the top spot by selling 26, 140 units last month.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire was followed by its younger sibling Maruti Suzuki Alto. Maruti Suzuki Alto has enjoyed the top-position for years now but was taken over by the all-new sub-compact Maruti Suzuki Dzire that was launched recently this year. Maruti Suzuki Alto grabbed the second slot by selling a total of 21,521 units.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the latest hot selling hatch from Maruti Suzuki, grabbed the third position in the list of top 10 cars/ SUVs sold in August 2017 in India. 17, 190 units of Baleno were sold in the month of August.
The other positions were bagged by Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza on the 4th spot, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R on the 5th spot, Maruti Suzuki Swift on the 6th position, Hyundai Grand i10 on the 7th spot, Hyundai Elite i20 capturing the 8th spot while Hyundai’s SUV Creta sold 10,158 units and secured the 9th spot. The last spot in the list of top 10 selling cars in India in August 2017 was secured by Maruti Suzuki Celerio that sold 9, 210 units.
