Toyota New Car ‘Yaris’ India Launch Delayed? We Find Out Why!

Previously the Toyota Yaris was slated for a launch on April 24

Toyota Yaris is one of the most awaited cars in the Indian car market right now and has been generating hype ever since it was shown off at the Auto Expo last month. The car marks the entry of Toyota in C-Segment Sedans where Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz remain to be the most popular choices. However, the rumours doing the rounds say that the Toyota Yaris might launch at a later date than the expected date of April 24.

While some media houses still believe that the Toyota Yaris is coming our way on April 24, some major ones have been reporting the date confirmed to be May 18 almost a month later.

Toyota Yaris Will Take On The Maruti Ciaz and Honda City

Toyota Yaris is expected to bring the comfort and luxury of a D-Segment Sedan like Corolla to the C-Segment where the features remain pretty basic due to budget constraints. However, as seen on the car at Auto Expo, the Yaris is gearing up to bring features that are unheard in a segment like this. One such feature is the roof-mounted rear AC Vents on the Toyota Yaris which will definitely improve space for the rear middle passenger.

Coming to the mechanicals of the Toyota Yaris, the diesel option might not make its way to India due to the decreasing popularity of diesel power trains. However, this may change at a later date if the diesel pick up pace again in the Indian car market. A 1.5-litre petrol motor which will be mated to both manual and automatic transmissions will be available with the Toyota Yaris.

Toyota Yaris Price India and Launch Date

Toyota Yaris Price in India is expected to be north of 9 Lakh rupees while the top end variant might set you back by 14 Lakhs. However, the lack of diesel engine indicates towards a 13 lakh Rupee figure for top end models. What we are uncertain about right now is the launch date of the Toyota Yaris which is expected to be either 24 April or May 18. Nonetheless, the car is coming soon and if you are in the market to buy a Ciaz or a City then we suggest you wait to see what Toyota Yaris brings to the table.
