Toyota Yaris Might Not Be Able To Beat Maruti Suzuki Ciaz | Here is why

Toyota Yaris will launch in India close to a 10 Lakh Rupee mark and it will be interesting to see how well it fares against the competition

Toyota Yaris has been revealed by the company at the Auto Expo that concluded last week and is making its way into the Indian car market by June this year. It will be the first C-Segment sedan by Toyota in India where the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Honda City dominate the market. The Yaris takes cues from the bigger Toyota sedans like the Corolla and the Camry and the resemblance can be seen in the looks throughout. There is a tough competition among the C-Segment sedans where Skoda, Volkswagen, and Nissan also have a slight presence. However, we believe the Toyota Yaris might be a worthy competitor to the Honda City but the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is its worst nightmare.

Toyota Cannot Achieve Pricing Like The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

Toyota Yaris is away from official launch for a good 3-4 months and currently the segment is lead by the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Honda City. Both these cars have been a favourite among the customer in this class and have nearly wiped out Skoda, Volkswagen and Nissan from the market. This is because the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is the perfect balance between luxury and value for money while the City brings along the pleasure of owning a Honda.

The Toyota Yaris too is eyeing for a piece of cake from the same market by giving this class of buyer a sense of comfort that is unheard of in this segment. The Honda City does exactly that but isn’t entirely the most equipped when it comes to features. It misses out on Android Auto and Apple Carplay which frankly is something a buyer of this segment takes for granted. The owners of the city aren’t exactly happy with the noisy cabin either courtesy its diesel engine. It will be interesting to see how the Indian car buyer reacts to the Toyota Yaris which comes from a brand that is synonymous with exceptional comfort and luxury and gets all the goodies that Honda City misses out on.

Toyota Yaris’ another competitor Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has eaten into a large chunk of City’s sales since its launch and continues to do so to this day. Maruti has been an absolute favourite for the people when it comes to a brand they can trust and not to forget Ciaz does everything a City can but only better. It does all that by being a whole 1 Lakh Rupee cheaper than the City which is exceptional. Toyota Yaris might be able to beat the City by providing a more premium cabin but the chances of it undercutting the price of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz are close to Zero.

But Does The Toyota Yaris Even Care?

That might not be as big a problem as we think though. With the Toyota Yaris, the Japanese manufacturer will not be trying to appeal to the more value conscious buyer that goes for something like the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Toyota wants to offer the buyer of the Yaris with a plush interior, luxury as well as the comfort of a D-Segment Sedan like the Corolla. Honda has been luring in the same customer with the City on same grounds and it will be interesting to see how it holds its own once the Yaris steps into the market. Pricing will play an important role and the Toyota Yaris Price India is expected to be somewhere close to the 10 Lakh Rupee mark.
