Traditional Folk Theatre Festival 2016 at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh

Tagore Theatre is all set to take the city beautiful Chandigarh back into the traditional era. Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi has organized a ‘Traditional Folk Theatre Festival- 2016’ at Tagore Theatre in Chandigarh. The event will bring together various folk artists and performers on one stage to showcase their talent. Three eminent groups from Gwalior, Guwahati and Rajasthan will be performing on the stage of ‘Traditional Folk Theatre Festival- 2016’ in Chandigarh.

Traditional Folk Theatre Festival 2016 highlights

Traditional and Folk music always attracts people, not only Chandigarh but in almost each cities as everyone is somehow attached to traditional and folk music. But this time it’s the city beautiful Chandigarh that will be experiencing the most awaited folk artists performance in their city. Traditional Folk Theatre Festival 2016 will feature:

  • ‘Babuji’ – Babuji is a play directed by Jafar Sanjri that will be played by Parivartaa Samooh from Gwalior.
  • ‘AnKiya Naat Bhaona’- It’s another play that has been directed by Dulal Roy and will be performed by Sattriya Kendra of Guwahati.
  • ‘Janwai Ji Pawna’- The music will be played by Tura and Kalangi group from Rajasthan.
  • Traditional dance performances
  • Folk music

Songs and dance in ‘Traditional Folk Theatre Festival 2016’ will be performed by Fakira Khan Group. It is expected that some more talented artists from different states will showcase their eminent talent related to folk and tradition of their culture at ‘Traditional Folk Theatre Festival 2016’.
