TVS Motor Registers 22% Increase in Q2 Revenue; Bike Sales Zoom 16%

Company’s PBT, Two Wheeler Sale Surge

TVS Motor Company has registered an increase of 22% in its revenue for the second quarterly period of FY 2018-19. The company has recorded total revenue of ₹ 4,994 crore during the period from ₹ 4098 crore in the same quarter of 2017. Earnings Before Interest Taxes Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) for the three month period under review stood at ₹ 428.2 crore from ₹ 362.6 crore during 2017. This showcased an increase of 18.1%.

Company’s PBT, Two Wheeler Sale Surge

The well known two wheeler company has registered Profit Before Tax (PBT) ₹ 306.2 crore for the quarter as compared to ₹ 296.8 crore for the quarter ended September 2017. In the same quarterly period ended September 2018, the company’s two-wheeler sale figures of TVS comprising exports, increased 13.6% to 10.49 units as against 9.23 units during the same quarter a year ago. TVS Motor Company’s bike sales surged 14.9% to 4.2 lakh units in the July-September 2018 period as against 3.65 lakh unit sales recorded during the corresponding period a year ago.

TVS Scooter Sales & Exports

Scooter sales rose 18.2% to 3.88 lakh units during the quarterly period ended September 2018 as compared to 3.28 lakh units during the same period in FY 2017-18. The exports of the company showcased robust growth of 35.2% in the second quarter of 2018-19. In total, TVS Motor Company registered exports of 1.99 lakh units during the quarter as against 1.48 lakh units exported in the same period in 2017-18.

During the half year ended September 2018, TVS Motor Company’s revenue excluding excise duty/GST surged 21.3% to ₹ 9,165.2 crore as against ₹ 7,554 crore in April-September 2018 period. Profit Before Tax (PBT) for April-September period remained at ₹ 518.6 crore from ₹ 476.2 crore recorded in the same period in the last financial year (2017-18).

In all, TVS Motor Company sold 19.41 lakh two-wheelers in April-September 2018 period, rising 13.6% from 17.08 lakh sold duirng the corresponding period a year ago. The sales of scooter remained up by 15.4% during the first half of the current fiscal to 6.76 lakh units, from 5.76 lakh units a year ago. Bike sales surged 16% to 8.07 lakh units.
