UGC 2017 Update : Educational Institutions in India to Seek UGC Approval for Distant Education Programs

UGC i.e. University Grants Commission has declared a new notification regarding the distant courses offered by many Universities in  India. To get a better hold on the authorities and institutions that are imparting educational certificates via distant learning in Indian sub-continent, UGC has introduced some criteria which needs to be fulfilled by these institutions before their such courses get UGC’s recognition.

Universities to Seek Fresh Approval from UGC

Seeking fresh approval from UGC to run their distant education learning programmes within Universities in India, only those ones who fulfill the requisite criteria in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the University Grants Commission which is the head authority of Indian Education System. Even those Universities which had UGC’s approval for the academic session from 2017-2018 are instructed to seek fresh approval to be renewed for the academic session 2018 onwards before they go forth with running their show.

To keep a hold of the authoritarian nature of UGC that is the sole authority in granting recognition to educational courses at various levels, here are the salient features of the latest decision taken up by the Commission regarding distant learning programs in Indian Educational Institutions.

  • Compliance of regulations framed by UGC mandatory to get course recognition
  • Higher Educational Institutions to seek fresh approval from the Commission for their respective courses
  • Distant education courses are quite helpful for working professionals and rural people
  • Universities like Shivaji University to add 60 more such courses after getting UGC’s nod

UGC Latest Update and Amendment Policy

Going forth head strong in evolving the Indian Education System, University Grants Commission i.e. UGC leaves no stone un-turned to introduce amendments for the betterment for good. Protests, rebel and opposition doesn’t bother as long as UGC works for the welfare to revolutionise the system. Evolving themselves with the changing times, they respect the fact that ‘Change is the need of the hour.’

Going tech-savvy, UGC would soon release an official notification at its official website to invite applications from various higher educational institutions like colleges and universities to grant them recognition and nod of affirmation for their distant educational learning programs.
