UIDAI Aadhaar Card Face Recognition Feature Mandatory – All You Need To Know

With the recent developments, it has become mandatory to link your Aadhaar Card with your mobile number as well as your Bank Account. Adding to this, plans for the implementation of the feature of the face recognition are being formulated by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

Though, the decision of the implementation of the additional feature of the recognition of the facial feature for the authentication of the Aadhaar Card of an individual is yet to be taken. The same for now is being considered as a mandatory step. Therefore, from now on, apart from your fingerprint, you will also be required to make use of your face as a part of the authentication process as per the UIDAI.

UIDAI Makes Facial Recognition Mandatory For Aadhaar Card Users

At the beginning of the year, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) was witnessed to be keen on introducing the feature of the face recognition for the authentication related to the Aadhaar Card. Whereas the implementation of the same is yet to be done. However, the inclusion of the facial recognition is mandatory for all the Aadhaar Card users from buying a SIM card to get your banking transactions done. The facial recognition is a recent addition to the primary authentication methods.

The two-factor authentication in the respective systems for all the individuals is performed making use of two factors that is the fingerprint or the iris scan as well as the new feature of the face recognition. Whereas, this might vary in the cases when the Aadhaar card users who are not able to provide the VID or the TSPs as stated by the UIDAI.

How Will UIDAI Aadhaar Card Facial Recognition Feature Work 

In all the cases where the authentication is required for the Aadhaar Card users, the newly introduced feature of the facial recognition is mandatory as of now. Directly, the rollout of the same is in the working phase. As stated by the Union Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), with effect from September 15, 2018, it is a must for at least 10 percent of the Aadhaar Card users to make use of the feature of face recognition.

In the case, if any of the Aadhaar Card users do any of the authentications without the support of the facial recognition feature with the specific agency, a fine of 20 paise will be charged.
