UPSC CMS Exam 2018 Has a Revised Syllabus & Scheme | Check Notification

UPSC CMS Exam 2018: Union Public Service Commission has delayed the notification for the UPSC CMS Exam 2018. The UPSC Notification for the CMS Exam (Combined Medical Services Exam) was scheduled to be out on April 11, 2018. But the Service Commision released a notice regarding the delay in the notification for the CMSE 2018. Here are the full details of UPSC CMS Exam Syllabus, and other useful information.

UPSC CMS 2018 -Changes in Exam Syllabus

The UPSC CMS Exam will have two parts i.e Part 1 and Part 2. The first part will have two question papers and these will be a computer-based examination. Each of the paper of the UPSC CMS Exam will have a maximum of 250 marks and the time duration for each paper will be 2 hours. The total marks will be 500. The first part will be computer-based examination and the second part will be Personality Test. The personality test will be of 100 marks and those candidates who clear the first part will go to the Personality Test.

UPSC CMS 2018 Exam Syllabus For Part 1

In the first paper of the CMS exam 2018, there will be total 120 questions. Out of these 120 questions, 96 questions will be from General Medicine and 24 questions from Paediatrics. The maximum marks for the Part 1 are 250 marks.

In the first part of the CMS Exam, General Medicine will includes questions from Cardiology, Respiratory diseases, Gastro‐intestinal, Genito‐Urinary, Neurology, Endocrinology, Metabolic disorders, Infections/Communicable Diseases, Hematology, Nutrition/Growth, Diseases of the skin (Dermatology), Musculoskeletal System, Psychiatry, General, Emergency Medicine, Common Poisoning, Snakebite, Tropical Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Emphasis on medical procedures, Pathophysiological basis of diseases, Vaccines preventable diseases and Non vaccines preventable diseases, Vitamin  deficiency diseases, and In psychiatry.

Pediatrics will have questions from Common Childhood Emergencies, Basic new bor care, Immunization in children, Normal developmental milestones, Accidents and poisonings in children, Birth defects and counseling including autism, Recognizing children with special needs and management and National programmes related to child health.

UPSC CMS Exam 2018 Syllabus For Part 2

The Part 2 Will have total 120 questions and there will be three parts. Each parts will have 40 questions. The parts are Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics and Preventive & Social Medicine. The paper 2 will have questions from General Surgery, Urological Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology E.N.T., Thoracic Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, Traumatology, Diagnosis, Medicolegal and ethical issues of surgery, Pre‐operative and post-operative care, Wound healing, Fluid and electrolyte management in surgery and Shock pathophysiology.

The second part of the CMSE Exam paper will have questions from Ante‐natal conditions, Intra‐natal conditions, Post‐natal conditions, Management of normal labors or complicated labour. Gynaecologysection will include questions from applied anatomy, applied physiology, infections in genital tract, neoplasma in the genital tract, displacement of the uterus, Normal delivery and safe delivery practices, Abortions and Intra Uterine growth retardation. The UPSC CMS Exam 2018 will be an objective type paper. There will be negative marking for each wrong answer in the objective paper. All those candidates who will clear the Part 1 will go for the Personality Test. The personality test will be of 100 marks.
