UPSC Recruitment 2018: Union Public Service Commission has released an official notification for the recruitment of the post of Geo-Scientist and Geologist. The Online application for the same has started and all interested candidates who fulfill the needed education qualification can apply for the same. UPSC Recruitment 2018 – Important Details

Dates – The online application process for the post of Geo-Scientist and geologist has started from 21st March. The last date to apply online is 16th April. All candidates are advised to fill the online application form on or before the last date. The last date to pay the online fee payment is 16th April. The admit card for the UPSC exam will be released in the first week of June. The exam date is 29th June and the result of the exam will be out in the month of August 2018.

Application Fee – For General category and OBC category the application fee is Rs.200. For SC/ST/PH category, there is no application fee. Also, there is no fee for female candidates. Candidates can submit their application fee via credit card, debit card or via challan.

UPSC Recruitment 2018 – Vacancy Details, Qualifications & How To Apply

Vacancy Details – There are total 70 post vacancies in UPSC for the post of Geo-Scientist and Geologist. UPSC will conduct the Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination for the recruitment of these posts. The post names are – Geologist Group A, Chemist group A, Junior Hydrogeologist Scientist B Group A and geophysicist Group A. For the post of Geologist Group A there are total 24 vacancies in Geological Survey of India. For the post of Geophysicist Group A, there are total 17 post vacancies. For the post of Chemist Group A there are 06 vacancies and for the post of Junior Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) Group A, there are total 23 post vacancies in Central Ground Water Board.

Qualifications – For the post of Geologist the needed education qualifications are Master’s Degree in Geological Science/ Geology /Applied Geology / Geo Exploration / Mineral Exploration / Engineering Geology/ Petroleum Geoscience/ Geochemistry / Geological Technology / Geophysical Technology/Marine Geology / Earth Science and Resource Management/ Oceanography and Coastal Areas Study / Petroleum Exploration from a recognized University of India.

For the post of Geophysicist, the needed education qualifications are M.Sc.in Physics / Applied Physics / Marine Geophysics or M.Sc. Tech. in Applied Geophysics/ Geophysics or Exploration Geophysics / Applied Geophysics from a recognized institute. For the post of Chemist candidates with Master degree in Chemistry and Applied chemistry can apply. Candidates having Master Degree in Geology/Marine Geology from a recognized university can apply for the post of Junior Hydrogeologist..

Mode of Selection – Candidates will be selected on the basis of Written examination and then followed by the viva voice examination.
