Volvo Cars Report an Impressing Two-Digit Global Sales Growth in May 2017

Established in 1927, Swedish luxury vehicle manufacturer Volvo Cars, continued on its path towards growth and registered yet another record full year in May 2017. The premium car manufacturer reported a double-digit global retail sales growth, 12.2 percent to be precise, as compared to the same month in the year 2016. The double-digit global retail sale is the outcome of the back of solid performance in all its three main sales regions — Asia Pacific region, Americas region and the EMEA region.

Compared to 42,107 cars the year before the total sales for the month amounted to 47,247 cars this year. Volvo sold a record 5,34,332 cars in 2016 and is positive that the luxury car manufacturer will report another record in 2017.

8.9 per cent growth was reported for the first five months of 2017. The original XC60 continues to be the best-selling Volvo car model in India overall.

Sales in Asian Region

The Asia Pacific region remained the top seller and reported a sales growth of 30.6 per cent in May to 12,721 cars. China remains Volvo’s largest individual sales market. Locally produced S90, XC60 and S60L models are much admired by the customers. Boosted by a strong performance in China, the sale in the country rose 38.8 percent to 9,779 cars.

Sales in the Americas region

With an increase in the sale of 10.4 per cent to 7,574 cars in the Americas region, the company registered 12 per cent increase in the US market to 6,202 cars. The XC90 remained the best-selling car in both the US market and the Americas region for the month whereas the XC60 remained the second best-selling car in both the regions.

Sales in the EMEA region

Greater than before sale figures were registered in the EMEA region. It increased by 5.4 percent in May to 26,634 cars. The XC60 remained Volvo’s best-seller in the region followed by the V40/V40 Cross country as Europe’s most popular premium mid-size SUV and as Europe’s most popular premium Estate Hatchback respectively.
