Swedish vehicle manufacturer Volvo is all set to launch its entry-level luxury SUV – XC40 in India soon. According to the report, the luxury SUV has already been listed on the official India-spec website of the automaker and the automaker is likely to launch the Volvo XC40 luxury SUV in India next year. The launch of the vehicle is likely by mid of next year.
As per the Swedish automaker’s Indian website where the luxury SUV has been listed the vehicle will be soon launched in India. While the report mentions that the XC40 is expected to launch in India soon it is also being speculated that the automaker might showcase the vehicle at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo in Delhi.
Automaker Volvo’s luxury SUV – XC40 specification and competitors
It is being expected that Volvo, the Swedish vehicle manufacturer will launch the fully loaded variants of the Volvo XC40 in India. The luxury SUV is expected to be launched with a starting price of Rs. 35 lakhs. Volvo is aiming at capturing a significant share of the segment by launching the fully-loaded trims of the Volvo XC40.
Offering fully-loaded cars at a price lower than its competitors would be the strategy for Volvo. This approach will not only give Volvo a better boost to the carmaker but will also offer the customers value-for-money. The Volvo XC40 in India will be the least priced luxury SUV in India from the carmaker. Post its launch, the luxury SUV is likely to take on existing market leaders such as the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and the Mercedes Benz GLA. The XC40 will be imported into the country as a completely built unit (CBU).

Volvo XC40 luxury SUV is expected to be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The Volvo SUV will get turbocharged petrol as well as the turbocharged diesel units and both these units will come mated to 8-speed automatic gearboxes. Both the engines will get All wheel drive (AWD) as a standard fitment. While the 2-litre, turbocharged petrol unit will produce 247 Bhp, the diesel engine is expected to get a similar layout, but with a different tuning that will generate about 190 Bhp.
Safety and other features of the luxury Volvo SUV to be launched in 2018
The Volvo XC40 will get 6 airbags, besides ABS (Antilock Brake System), EBD (Electronic brakeforce distribution) as standard safety features, while other safety features include hill-hold assist, traction control, oncoming lane mitigation, adaptive cruise control, run-off road mitigation besides the blind spot information systems.
One of the unique City Safety feature in the Volvo XC40 luxury SUV alerts the driver to brake immediately after detecting obstacles. It also applies brakes automatically if the driver doesn’t respond to the warning.
