What’s Next For Amazon? They Are All Set To Join Bollywood Film Industry

Amazon, India’s leading e-commerce store is all set to join Bollywood, one of the most prolific film industry. After the success of their video service – Amazon Prime Video they are all set to join the famous film industry. As per sources, Amazon has hired people who are expertise in content, film distribution and an exhibition to create a blueprint for the film studio which has been proposed.

Amazon – The Game Changers Of The Modern Era

Amazon is all set to join Bollywood, the head of Amazon Studios’s content business came to Mumbai this week and met content makers and producers. Amazon is spending a lot of money for originals as well as films. Amazon plans to get into the film studio business in India.

Though Amazon has started working in India on the film studios project but it would take at least 6-9 months before they announce any plans.

Amazon’s country head – India said that they have got a good response on Amazon Prime Video in India. He said that out of the 12 content pieces four are Hindi movies, two US movies, two regional titles, two Amazon originals and around one or two kid shows. Amazon has a $300 million video-content budget and Amazon Prime Video targets to beat their rival Netflix in India within four months.

Amazon Signs Deal With Production Houses

Amazon, the real players have signed a long-term deal with the five most popular production houses in India:

  • Yash Raj Films
  • Excel Entertainment
  • Dharma Productions
  • T series
  • Vishesh Films

Netflix, Amazon’s rival has also signed deals with these five production houses. Netflix has also signed deals with SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Aamir Khan’s Aamir Khan Productions.

The head of Amazon Studios’s content business aims to open film studios in India and his focus is to get original TV shows and also the licensing of movies. He said the Indian audience loves TV shows and movies. However, there are a lot of things which need to be decided, discussed and debated.

India’s Never Ending Love For Cinema

The head of Amazon Studios’s content business said that Indians like Japanese love watching local content. He said that Indians love watching cinema so they will come up with advancements keeping in mind the interests of Indian viewers.

In the US, Amazon has started producing films and they aim to do the same in Japan, India and the UK. A senior producer said that Amazon should move cautiously as Amazon has made a huge investment in developing originals and licensing films. Amazon creating a production entity would be a big thing!
