Free messaging app – WhatsApp will stop working on various smartphones from the beginning of 2018. According to the report, the largest used messaging app will discontinue working on several smartphone platforms from the end of this year ie December 31, 2017.

Well, this news may seize more than many hearts, because today, WhatsApp is the largest used messaging app in the world and is one of the ways to stay connected to your loved ones beyond the geographical boundaries. The news that Whatsapp will stop working on numerous smartphones has spread panic among innumerable smartphone users across the globe.

While it has been reported that WhatsApp will not work on several smartphones after end of this year, but one of the lesser known facts is that the messaging app will work absolutely normally on rest of the mobile phones. As per the report, the affected percentage of smartphones is mere one per cent while the messaging app – WhatsApp will function absolutely normal on rest of the 99 per cent phones across the globe.

It is also worth mentioning here that the smartphones or the platforms on which WhatsApp is being discontinued are mostly out-of-date and another reason is that these phones are used by a really small number of users.

Here are the devices and models on which WhatsApp won’t work after 31, 12, 2017

The devices and mobile models on which WhatsApp will get dysfunction after December 31, 2017 are BlackBerry 10, BlackBerry OS and Windows Phone 8.0 and older operating systems. As per one of the official WhatsApp blog posts, it has been clearly motioned that users of mobile phones and devices including BlackBerry OS, Windows Phone 8.0, BlackBerry 10 and older Window operating systems will not be able to use WhatsApp on their devices from the beginning of next year. The notification, in short, has clearly cited the end-of-life date which is even less 72 hours from now.

There seems no ray of hope that WhatsApp will give any extension to the mobile manufacturers in India. In the dearth of getting an extension, WhatsApp will be ending its support for Blackberry and Windows Phone after December 31, 2017. If you have one of the above-mentioned phones, or in layman’s language if you possess a mobile phone that has any of the above-mentioned operating systems the best way to overcome this situation is to consider upgrading to a newer phone.
