This is What Will Happen if You Litter At Sector 17 Chandigarh

Sector 17 is one such place in Chandigarh which is an open mall and the administration is trying hard to increase the footfall in this area. In an order to make Sector 17 plaza neat and clean, the govt. has come with a plan where people littering at sector 17 would be fined. It’s nit just about fine but the punishment is harder.

Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has been given the responsibility to keep the area clean and have also been given the charge to fine people who litter at Sector 17 plaza. On the very first day of the action taken by the MC, 2 people were challaned for violating the rule in Sector 17 plaza.

Clean City Chandigarh

Chandigarh has been termed as the beautiful city of India and has also been ranked second in the cleanest city of India under the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan conducted in the year 2016. After ranking second in the list of cleanest cities of India, garbage can be seen at many places within the plaza.

That leaves a very bad impact on the beauty of the beautiful city. Despite dustbins at many places, people throw garbage in the plain area. To maintain the cleanliness of the city, MC has taken an action to issue challans. Out of the 2 challan, one has been issued to a shopkeeper and another one to a visitor of Sector 17 plaza.

The Action:

During his visit to Sector 17 plaza, UT administrator found it drenched in garbage, he stated to officials that ‘I will clean the plaza, if you are unable to do it’. After which the MC decided and took action and this is what they have started doing:

  • The details of the violators will be taken down by the MC department.
  • A fine of Rs.500 will be charged from the violator.
  • MC can also file a case against the violators in the court.

Be careful if you are visiting Sector 17 plaza, don’t litter here or there. It may take you to trouble in Chandigarh because MC officials are keeping an eye on you.
