World’s tallest Khanda comes up at Shri Anandpur Sahib in Punjab

A large khanda, standing 81 feet tall has been installed at Shri Anandpur Sahib in Punjab to mark 350th foundation year. The khanda which is made of stainless steel has come up at Panj Piyara Park in Anandpur Sahib. It has been specially given an aerodynamic shape so that it can withstand air pressure.

Giani Mal Singh (Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib jathedar) and Daljit Singh Cheema (Punjab education minister) were present while the world’s tallest khanda was being installed with the help of a crane at Anandpur Sahib.

The length of the khanda is 42 feet and its width is 18 feet. A special platform of 39 feet height has been constructed to accommodate the khanda making the total length to be 81 feet i.e. the world’s tallest khanda. The stainless steel khanda weighs 3 ton and has been prepared by a Moga based company named Satnam Fabrication. It took 3 months to build this massive khanda which has been purchased at a cost of Rs. 22 lakh.

According to the reports, the base where the khanda has been installed will be covered with white marble. Around 22 artists from Agra and Dholpur have already been alloted the work which will be completed in coming 3 months. Total expenditure for the marble work would be Rs. 20 Lakh.

Although the khanda has already been installed at Panj Piyaara park, Punjab Chief Minister, Mr. Prakash Singh Badal will unveil the structure to devotees on 17th June, 2015 – the foundation day of Shri Anandpur Sahib.
