Zirakpur is the gateway to Chandigarh and all other neighbouring states and now the town will soon get a new swanky & lavish look. The beautification of the town below the flyover is on the cards. The deputy commissioner directed the project director of NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) KL Sachdeva and project head of GMR, Iqbal Singh to submit the plan for the new makeover of Zirakpur within a week. The project will start from the first week of April.
2.7 km stretch from Chandigarh border will be studded with trees and flowering plants
Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra gave the order to the officials of MC, NHAI, GMR, Kulwinder Singh Sohi, president MC Zirakpur, Parveen Kumar Tehsildar, Amninder Kaur Brar, SDM Dera Bassi and Manveer Singh, E.O. at Zirakpur. The Deputy Commissioner has directed all the officials of Zirakpur to cooperate with all the shopkeepers. Also, a committee is also formed for the same under the SDM of Derabassi which comprises president of Zirakpur MC, Derabassi Tehsildar and NHAI, GMR representatives.
Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra said that about 2.7 km stretch that starts from the Chandigarh Border will be decorated with flowering plants and trees. All the experts and the known architects will be consulted for the same. Also, toilets will also be provided for the passers for their convenience at prominent places at Patiala Chowk.
All the officials of MC are directed by the DC to set up a meeting with the shop owners and share all the information regarding the new makeover of Zirakpur with them. The renovation will also be done on the lines of Delhi and this will also include some stretch of Patiala and Panchkula.
Beautification of Open Spaces Under The Zirakpur Flyover – The main idea is to beautify the open spaces which are under the flyover of Zirakpur. There is a lot of open space under the flyover of town. This is a total of 2.7 km stretch and soon this will be covered with flowering plants and trees.
Project Director, KL Sachdeva said that we’ve been asked to prepare a report for the beautification and new look of the flyover of Zirakpur by the administration. Once the report will be ready it will be handed over to higher authorities and after getting approvals, the beautification works of the vacant spaces under the flyover will begin.
