As per the 7th Pay Commission, the dress allowance to the diplomats and to the Special Protection Group (SPG) officers have been considerably hiked, keeping in mind about their duties that they perform with the PM of India, ex-ministers and their families. Now, the SPG officers and the diplomats will receive dress allowance of Rs 27,800 at the time of the duties and Rs 21,225 during non-operational days on an annual basis, depending upon their grades of office.

Before the recommendation of the National Anomaly Committee (NAC) to the central government for the dress allowance hike in the 7th Pay Commission, the Diplomats and SPG Officers used to receive Rs 9,000 as dress allowance, annually. It is now when the NAC examined 196 other allowances apart from the main salary hike in the 7th Pay Commission, the central government has become considerate enough to grant the dress allowance to the central government employees across the country.
