Honda in India is launching a new 1000 cc bike named Africa Twin in its motorcycles and scooters range. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI), the second largest two-wheeler brand of India is going to introduce four different models in its present financial year for its Indian customers.
Honda Africa Twin Range Features
The Honda’s new range of motorcycles and scooters include the 1000cc Africa Twin that has an advanced dual-clutch technology and three more other two wheelers that include a bike and two scooters but is still not revealed by the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer Minoru Kato.
The Africa Twin has been revealed in New Delhi in a 2016 Auto Expo and on its launch gained a lot of appreciation and anticipation because of its advanced features like:
- Tall frame
- A 1000cc liquid-cooled Unicam 8-valve parallel twin engine
- 93bhp and 98Nm of torque
- 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) and Manual Gearbox
- Twin barrel headlamps
- Tall vertical windscreen
- 21-inch front wheel with enormous suspension travel of 230mm
- 18-inch rear wheel to handle all sorts of terrain.
- 18.8-litre tank
- ABS and traction control with built in changable modes for changing conditions
- ABS can be turned off for the rear wheel
- Four setting traction control. Off and 1-3.
Honda Africa Twin Assembly in India
The Honda’s African Twin’s assembly unit is set up in its Manesar plant in Haryana. The adventure tourer motorcycles would be priced competitively and will follw the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kit. The launch of the African Twin was delayed due to the earthquake that triggered last year in Japan affecting the production unit of Honda.
But the African Twin will not be further delayed to hit the Indian markets as its trial assembly has been confirmed in India.
Honda Africa Twin Price And Availability in India
The prices of the Honda’s 1000cc Africa Twin would range from Rs 15,00,000 to Rs 17,00,000. The adventure bikes would be available in India by July 2017.
On its launch in the Indian market, it is being speculated to give a tough challenge to the CRF1000L Africa Twin will take on the BMW 1200GS, Ducati Multistrada and the Triumph Tiger Explorer.
