The Glance at the New Rs.50 and Rs. 200 Notes’ Features

With the recent release of the new Rs. 50 and Rs. 200 denominations, there have been many announcements that came forth from the RBI officials. As per the recent events, RBI revealed that the design of these new denomination notes of Rs. 50 and Rs 200 is done keeping in mind the factors like ease of transaction for a common folk, replacement of the soiled notes and need of combating counterfeiting.

Let’s take a glance at what these two new denominations look like. Where, Rs. 50 note is fluorescent blue in colour, there Rs. 200 is coloured Bright yellow.  The new Rs. 50 note has a ‘Hampi and Chariot’ at its reverse side depicting the India’s Culture and Mahatma Gandhi’s picture in the front. On the right side of the note will be the Ashoka Pillar emblem and the year of printing will be mentioned on the reverse side. Not only this but the note will also be featuring the Swachh Bharat Logo with the Salogan along with the Language Panel.

The new Rs. 200 note is designed with the motif of ‘Sanchi Stupa’ on its reverse side, depicting the cultural heritage of the country and is designed in the geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme at the both obverse and reverse sides. The denominational numeral “200” with the rupee symbol is printed in the color changing ink, green-blue on the bottom right on the front side of the note. The dimension of this new note is 66mm X 146 mm.

Both the notes are an addition to the Mahatma Gandhi’s new series with the signature of RBI Governor Urjit R Patel. As per the RBI officials, the release is carried out for achieving the optimal system of currency in the country. According to the officials, this decision is taken to minimize the number of denominations while increasing the probability of proffering exact change at the lower end of denominations. The release of new Rs. 50 and Rs. 200 notes was a move to meet the missing link between the currency denominations.

ATMs To Be Calibrated With the New Sections Fitting New Rs. 50 and Rs. 200 notes

For now, there is no availability of these new currency notes at ATMs as they are not feasible for the dimensions that the new Rs. 50 and Rs. 200 notes are designed in. ATM manufacturers are ordered to do testing of the new Rs. 200 denomination currency and provide the parameters that need to be reconfigured. As per the manufacturing engineers, there is a need of complete switch configuration and complete testing of the new 200 denomination. The delay of the calibration of ATMs is what is creating a chaos for the banks.
