NEET 2018: In a recent hearing of a matter of Uttar Pradesh, a bench of judges at the Supreme Court collectively decided on that the vacant seats at the different medical colleges located across the country can be filled by making use of the merit list which shall be formulated in context to the NEET Exam 2018.

In respect of a plea which had been filed by the UP Unaided Medical Colleges Welfare Association, the Supreme Court has rolled an official notification stating the use of NEET merit list to be used to fill the vacant seats. It has been widely noticed that a large portion of the seats at these colleges remain vacant. To be precise, 41.95 percent of the total seats for the post- graduation courses for the academic session of 2018-2019 have not been filled in the private unaided medical colleges of the state.
As per the officials, a similar kind of dispensation can be carried forward in the other states on their desire. As the cut-off date was over which was May 18, the responsibility of the Director General of Medical Education in Uttar Pradesh to allot the seats to the students least by May 31 is realised.
