Another Tragedy on Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims | Bus Falls Into Gorge, 16 Died & 30 Injured

Some of the Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims this time are going through a hell lot of tragedies to pay their obeisance at the holy shrine back after back. Last week, a terrorist group Lashkar-E- Taiba open fired at a bus of Amarnath pilgrims returning back from the holy Shrine near Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir and now it’s a heart shocking accident of a bus carrying Amarnath Yatris.

Amarnath Yatra pilgrims bus met with an accident

Yesterday, a J&K registered State Road Transport Corporation bus plunged into a 200-foot deep gorge at Nachlana Nullah near an Army camp in Ramsoo, Ramban. 16 of the Amarnath pilgrims on the bus died while more than 30 yatris sustained serious injuries. The accident of the bus carrying Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims to Srinagar took place at around 2:15 pm after its one of the tyres burst. The driver of the bus lost control over the vehicle and it skidded off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, rolling into the deep gorge.

The Army, CRPF, Police, along with local people, came to the rescue of the Amarnath pilgrims. Those with less injuries from the accident were rushed to the district hospital in Banihal while a few injured pilgrims were airlifted to Jammu who needed specialized treatment.

All 16 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims who succumbed to fatal injuries in the bus accident hailed from The deceased belonged to Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan Bihar, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam. 14 men and 2 women died in the accident. PM Modi has expressed his deep pain on the incident and has announced an exgratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of Amarnath pilgrims who died in the bus accident while Rs 50,000 to the seriously injured pilgrims.

Accidents are said to be an unplanned and unpredictable event in life but such tragedies embark grief and sorrow to the families who lost either of their parents, brother, sister, wife, children or any dear one. Our prayers are with families of casualties happened and we wish Amarnath Yatra pilgrims who sustained injuries due to the accident, gets well soon. All those driving in the hilly areas should be in the driving limit speed and should follow traffic rules.
